The Bible, the King James Version (KJV), also known as the Authorised Version (AV), was completed in 1611 and is the most influential and widely distributed translation of the Holy Scriptures; a proven Biblical text.

The King James Bible was based on the correct line of manuscript New Testament Majority Text (Textus Receptus) and Old Testament Masoretic Text. It has also been compared with the earlier Bible translations and revised to achieve a higher degree of accuracy and formal correspondence with the original languages, resulting in a perfect Bible text, without error, which has now for over 400 years yielded unrivalled fruit to the Lord.

Information about the Swedish KJV Bible

The

SWEDISH KJV BIBLE

is the Swedish translation of the Holy Scriptures,

KING JAMES VERSION

also known as the

AUTHORIZED VERSION

The Authorized Bible, King James Version is preserved and proved by God since the year of our Lord 1611, whose English text is translated out of the original tongues: and with the former translations diligently compared and revised, by his Majesty's special command.

The Swedish translation of the Authorized Bible, the King James Version, published in the year of our Lord 1611.

The Swedish KJV Bible is a thorough Bible translation of the Holy Scriptures into the Swedish language and is the first Bible in Sweden to have a Swedish translation of the Chapter Outline, which was published in the first edition of the King James Bible in 1611, including: the Preface to the Readers, and a Dedication to his Majesty King James the First of England (King James I), to the glory of the great God and the good of his Church, through Jesus Christ our Lord and only Saviour.

A preserved language and use of punctuation marks

In the Swedish edition of the 1611 KJV, its English language character and intonation are clarified through a matched use of punctuation. The Swedish KJV Bible therefore has a slightly older Swedish-language accent that faithfully follows the English King James Bible. This means that the structure of the text, punctuation and the division of the text differs from what it normally looks like in the Swedish language, such as when a colon, a comma, a period and on how capitalized letters are used. Every verse in the King James Bible starts with a capital letter regardless of syntax.

Italicised words

Text highlighted in italics indicates that these words are not found in Greek; however, even these words or phrases are part of the Word of God and are necessary to enable the translation of the Bible text into another language (to facilitate pronunciation of the text in the Swedish language).

Chapter overview

In italics, under each chapter and in each book, is the Swedish translation of the chapter outline found in the AV 1611 King James Bible, according to the first edition. Added words or clarifications are marked in brackets [ ].
